FIFTY SHADES OF GREY

courtesy of Abigail Ahern
I've recently had a color revelation. After years of moving, renting and painting every room in the house a different color(see yesterday's post), I realized I am ready for a neutral. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather die than have beige walls, like these when we moved in.

SO UGLY!!
While flipping through my pinterest boards and image files for inspiration, however, I began to notice that EVERY single image of my favorite spaces was eclectic, colorful, filled with art, and GASP.. on gray walls.  Literally EVERY single one. How did I not see this before?

I, Rachel, supporter of neon, friend to blue, and recovering Citron-user, am coating my entire lower level in a warm, creamy Gray.

After taping up about 50 shades of grey all over my lower level, I have finally narrowed it down to one that is fresh and cool in the daytime, dark and moody in the evening and the perfect backdrop for all of our insane furnishings, vintage treasures and art. It is Behr Premium Plus in Fashion Gray, available at Home Depot. I use this because Home Depot is literally down the street from our house and when I want something I want it NOW.

More gorgeous gray wall images from my inspiration files.. How did I miss this obvious preference until now? Notice everything looks amazing with it.. bright color, black and white, wood, metal, rough shiny..it all suddenly pops and unifies all of your random pieces. Yes, this is what I need.
